Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) was founded by Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda in 1917. The mission of YSS is to make available to all the ancient scientific teachings, and meditation techniques of Kriya Yoga for achieving all-round success, well-being, and a direct personal experience of God. YSS has more than 200 centers across India to help all Truth-seekers to experience the power of group meditations and to share in spiritual fellowship. Yogoda Satsanga devotees of Coimbatore have been gathering for group meditations since 1983. Initially, they met at a variety of venues until an apartment in Shivanjali Apartments in Vadavalli was donated in 2004. Over the years, this Kendra proved too small to accommodate all the devotees, especially during special functions, and efforts were made to look for new premises.
In July 2013, a property of 0.42 acres with a built-up area of 8,200 sq. ft., centrally situated in Coimbatore, was donated by a Trustee of R & R Charities, Coimbatore. It now functions as the Yogoda Satsanga Dhyana Kendra, Coimbatore, and is within fifteen minutes from the airport, railway station, and bus station.
The property is located beside a serene coconut grove next to the Perks School Campus. It has a large open courtyard, a meditation hall, library, office, and kitchen. In addition, there are 20 rooms with attached bathrooms, which are used for personal and conducted residential retreats.
The Coimbatore YSDK provides many facilities that are ideal for seekers in quest of a spiritual oasis. The sylvan surroundings, the residential accommodation, the meditation hall, library, and the spiritually vibrant atmosphere work synergetically to relax, refresh, and rejuvenate body, mind, and soul.
One notable feature of YSDK, Coimbatore, is that the meditation hall is open throughout the day for individual meditations, quite part from the scheduled group meditations.
An office also functions throughout the day to provide information and answer queries from interested persons.
