International Yoga Day 2021

On the occasion of the upcoming International Yoga Day, and keeping in mind these uniquely challenging times that we are all going through, Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS) is organizing online events to promote well-being of body, mind, and soul. These events -- introductory yoga-meditation sessions -- will be conducted by senior sannyasis and are open to all. YSS is founded by Paramahansa Yogananda, widely revered as “the father of yoga in the West.”
These sessions will be conducted in multiple languages wherein a YSS sannyasi will explain the various components of Yoga-Meditation, and then conduct a brief guided meditation. The session includes theory and practice of posture, preliminary breathing exercises, concentration, visualization, affirmation, etc.

You and your colleagues, with friends and relatives, are most welcome to participate in one or more of the events and learn about Yoga-Meditation.

About Swami Smaranananda Giri


Swami Smaranananda is the Vice President of Yogoda Satsanga Society of India. Swamiji is a Postdoctoral Fellow from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. He obtained his Ph. D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1980. He was awarded Gold Medals at both school and engineering college for his academic performance.

In 2018 IIT Kharagpur conferred on him the “Distinguished Alumnus Award” for his outstanding achievements and contributions. He has delivered a TEDx talk and has been interviewed by several magazines and TV channels.

About Swami Suddhananda Giri


Swami Suddhananda Giri graduated as an Electrical Engineer from IIT Madras, Chennai in 1975. Immediately after that he joined Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai. After serving in BARC for five years as a part of their research team experimenting in Plasma Physics, he felt the inner calling to dedicate his life as a monastic disciple of Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda, the author of the spiritual classic – Autobiography of a Yogi. Yoganandaji founded Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) as a spiritual and charitable Society to disseminate the scientific Raja Yoga teachings – the spiritual treasure of ancient India – for the balanced development of body, mind, and soul; as well as to render humanitarian service to the downtrodden and the needy.

Since 1980 Swami Suddhananda has been living in YSS ashrams at Ranchi, Dakshineswar and Noida. He has addressed diverse groups: students, and faculty in eminent colleges and universities; professionals in engineering, health care, and other industries; and those serving our country in the military, and Govt. establishments. He has travelled all over India and abroad giving discourses on the ‘How-to-Live’ teachings of Yoganandaji that bestows all round success and complete fulfilment.
